The Hat.
It’s no surprise that I’ve really been into a good hat lately. I’ve found myself incorporating this fun little accessory into all my daily looks! {See this outfit here, this post here AND this throwback post here!} However, my relationship with the hat wasn’t always like this. In fact, it wasn’t until a year ago that I realized I actually loved the way I looked in a good hat. True life! Until I had this moment of clarity, I was absolutely convinced that I was one of those people that looked awful in a hat. Yep, for some reason I had this skewed opinion that hats were only meant to be worn for extremely cold days or looked great on everyone else but me. So what changed my mind?
It was only until I got a freaking life and accepted the fact that I can “pull off” any type of accessory or look that I want, is when my relationship with the hat took a turn for sunshine mountain {Side note – IDK what sunshine mountain is.. but it sounds like a great time}. Meaning, for some ridiculous reason I realized that I was more focused on what others thought I looked like in a hat, versus what I felt comfortable in. Pretty silly isn’t it?! But how many instances in our daily lives does this same lack of confidence occur, and we’re not even aware?!
Here’s a word of advice; you actually WILL look great in any type of accessory or out of the box piece you try. BUT! You’ll only achieve this look when you’re comfortable in your own skin first. Remember, what you project out into your daily life, is what will ultimately reflect back on to you. In the case of trying a newer style, confidence is everything!
My suggestion for trying to incorporate a newer style or piece you typically wouldn’t wear on the daily, is to ensure you’re balancing out this new style with pieces that you already know you feel great in. For example, I love a good cozy burgundy sweater in the wintertime and a fierce faux fur accent piece. To ensure that this adorable burgundy pom pom fedora hat fit into my wardrobe, I made to sure to pair it with these items that I know I already feel great in. Plus, who doesn’t love a pom pom feature this season?! It’s adorable!
So my challenge for you this season is to try something you normally wouldn’t wear. Give it a go! In my case with the hat, it wasn’t until I started trying this accessory, did I realize that I loved what it was all about.
Do you find yourself this way with hats or any other accessory that you WISH looked good on you?! I’d love to hear what items or styles you’re hesitant to try!
Xx, Amanda
