There’s something about a red hue that screams statement.
And when that statement red hue is worn from head to toe, I internally do a happy dance. I mean, what’s not to love? I love me a good monochromatic red look! It’s bold, it’s fun and red always makes a statement. Plus, with red being THE hue for this fall, we’re going to be seeing A LOT more red-toned, well, everything. So how do we create a monochromatic look that we can wear on the daily? Let me break down.
First off, the term monochromatic translates to the use of one color. When we apply this concept in creating a look, we must remember that “one color” does not translate into one gradient of that color; these are two completely separate things! When we create a monochromatic look in fashion, we want to wear separates of one overall color, but utilize multiple gradients that have an overall similar shade. This will give our look dimension! Think of it this way, the goal for pulling off a monochromatic look is to purposely not match shades; bonus! Fashion made easy.
For example, with this red-toned look I used this gorgeous true-red ruffled sweater and paired it with these adorable bright red knotted-bow mules {Psst! It’s all about the backless footwear this fall!} and these amazing tasseled earrings {Dustin Lynch approved, mind you}. These three brighter pieces act as anchor pieces for the start of my monochromatic look and they create that bold statement I’m looking for! Now, the rest is easy. Fill in with darker shades of red-toned pieces and really play with the gradient of that specific color. Piece ‘o cake!
What hues will you play with for rocking the monochromatic look this season?
Xx, Amanda
