Giorgio Armani | Luminous Silk Foundation
The Foundation.
The Luminous Silk Foundation is KING! Are you even surprised?! The moment I tried on this liquid gold, it won my heart. It’s incredibly silky upon application {no joke – they named it well} and truly unlike any foundation I’ve ever used. Bottom line – the Luminous Silk Foundation is 100% worth the cost + 100% my all-time-favorite foundation I’ve ever owned.
My favorite part about this foundation is that it starts out as a medium coverage that’s completely buildable to provide you full coverage if desired. I think the most common misconception of wearing a medium or full coverage foundation is that it will feel heavy and you’ll ultimately resemble Ronald McDonald at the end of your application. This simply isn’t true; however, if this is a real-life sitch for you + your current liquid foundation product, you need a new brand immediately.
So let’s get down to the basics – I’m a liquid foundation gal all the way. I’ve just never been into powders; they always left me feeling dry and never provided the coverage I was ever looking for with easy application. Let’s just say that if I ever wanted coverage that was more sheer and for let’s say, a no-makeup look and // or simply sun protection, I’d simply apply a BB cream. {Don’t worry, I’ll go over BB creams in a future post!} In the words of Randy Jackson, a powder foundation is just gonna be a no for me dawg.
So how do you choose the right foundation for you?! For me, when it comes to choosing a liquid foundation, my personal preference is typically a medium coverage formula. That way, if I don’t feel like contouring that day {we’ll get into these products next week!} I still have great coverage that I’m comfortable wearing all day long and can even build on to create a fuller coverage look if I feel like it. Basically, a happy medium {literally} is where I like to fall when choosing a liquid foundation; however, this is all personal preference and you should #doyou when it comes to selecting your foundation formula.
Okay, coverage talk aside, there are a few very important features that you should look for when selecting a new foundation or simply evaluating your current one. These key aspects are very important; yet, fairly basic questions you need to ask yourself when it comes down to conducting a proper evaluation of your product.
Is application easy or does it require time + more tools?
Is application easy-going or is the formula thick and requires more time to blend out? For me, this is an immediate Randy Jackson if a foundation takes more than a few seconds to blend with more than one tool. I simply ain’t got time for that.
What is the feeling of the product once it’s applied?
Does the product feel heavy on my face? If it does, BUH-BYE. No foundation, no matter the coverage, should feel heavy when applied. If your foundation doesn’t feel weightless, it’s time for a new formula.
Ultimately, the Luminous Silk Foundation is my baby and I won’t be changing for a loooong time. However, I’ve provided a few other liquid foundations recs below that I would certainly reach for in a pinch.
